Leideman

Gebr. Leideman (NL):
the famous ‘Goed Grijs’ family

In the last decade of pigeon racing Gebr. Leideman developed as the absolute best in pigeon sport. The brothers Bert and André Leideman made a strain that is almost unbeatable on races from 100 to 700 km! Based for a great deal on the extremely exclusive hen ‘Goed Grijs’, they keep on winning massive 1st prizes against tenths of thousands of b..

The super hen ‘Goed Grijs’

The greatest and most important quality injection to the breeding lofts of Gebr. Leideman is the wonder 7x 1. prize winner BE15-6106415 ‘Goed Grijs’ (original Van Den Brande) and her family. She won many races, with leads and the incredible finishing skills were like never seen before. She really storms the loft when she comes home, not just after a race but after an ordinary training flight as well. She comes home like a bullet. It reminds of such iconic pigeons as ‘Kleine Dirk’, ‘Geeloger’ or ‘Kannibaal’, which were known to be fast finishers as well! In fact the breakneck stunts of ‘Goed Grijs’ eventually made Leideman brothers decide to transfer her to the breeding loft. Her frightening skills made them a bit scared one day she would wound herself …

‘Goed Grijs’ was bought in spring of 2015 from the Van Den Brande brothers from Berlaar (Belgium). They have been one of the leading sprint lofts in Belgium for many years. ‘Goed Grijs’ had 3 massive wins as yearling and 4 massive wins as 2 years old. After she’d won 1st NPO Laon from 387 km against 6,371 birds as a 2 years old on June 17th 2017, Leideman transferred her to the breeding loft … in the middle of the 2017 season.

The prizes won by ‘Goed Grijs’ are:

1. NPO Laon 6,371 b.
1. Duffel 5,821 b. 2 minutes lead
1. Heusden Zolder 2,775 b.
1. Laon 1,052 b.
1. Wijchen 786 b.
1. Heusden-Zolder 656 b.
1. Hapert 231 b.

‘Goed Grijs’ offspring

In the middle of her second racing year ‘Goed Grijs’ moved to the breeding colony and for Gebr. Leideman this was the key to new fantastic successes. Even though André and Bert transferred her to the breeding loft at the top of her shape, they knew these exceptional skills were incredibly valuable for future generations. And exactly that happened … the only 3 direct children ever raced were all massive winners. In the year 2019 ‘Speedy Grizzle’, a grandchild of ‘Goed Grijs’, was amongst the best of the famous Eijerkamp-family and crowned 1. Nat. acebird late tour WHZB/TBOTB 2019 … a great grandchild was in 2020 a/o winner of 1. prize Pissanulok Thailand 333 km 2,310 b. … and in 2021 a full brother to ‘Speedy Grizzle’ won 1. prov. Quievrain 12,633 b. and 1. prov. Heusden-Zolder 7,320 b. for the German champion Peter Janssen … a full sister to ‘Speedy Grizzle’ bred him 1. prov. 10,067 b. & 1. prov. 3,722 b. … super genes that pass on generation after generation after generation!

Gebr. Leideman history

Since their start as teenagers André and Bert Leideman have always been aiming for the highest quality of pigeons and ever since they have been in the top of Dutch pigeon racing. Enjoying pigeons was and still is the number 1 motivation to home pigeons. Massive wins came as obvious and an everlasting search in The Netherlands, Belgium en Germany for that special pigeon that can make a difference made the brothers living their dream … as the best Dutch all-round colony of the modern era.

The ambition to breed pigeons that would be famous has always been a goal of Gebr. Leideman. Pigeons that could win against many pigeons, preferably several times. Pigeons that would be talked and written about amongst pigeons fanciers. That was their dream. To breed such pigeons – both men concluded – you must have bloodlines of such legends in your breeding team. It was in that period especially André spend all of his spare time driving to fanciers, mostly in Belgium but also in The Netherlands and later in Germany. As a true talent-scout he went on his way looking for the best. Leideman Brothers found the best distribution of tasks.

The super hen ‘Jet’

André paid many visits to successful fanciers in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Next to ‘Goed Grijs’ a very important factor in the colony are the base breeding hens ‘Silver Dream’ and ‘Golden Dream’. It is a dream for every fancier to own a hen with the golden eggs … for Leideman the half sisters ‘Silver Dream’ and ‘Golden Dream’ are such hens. Almost everything they produce wins or breeds winners … It must be a matter of the perfect DNA, as their father is the exceptional ‘Blue Dream’, 1. Nat. acebird sprint KBDB Belgium 2009 and winner 10x 1. prize from Quievrain for August Wouters.

Probably the best breeding daughter of ‘Silver Dream’ is ‘NL15-1234091 ‘Jet’. She is one of the best hens ever racing at Leideman and winner of:
1. Asse Zelik 11,343 b.
1. NPO Gien 4,911 b. & fastest 7,768 b.
1. prov. Rethel 4,692 b.
6. prov. Laon 6,371 b. after loft mates
10. prov. Duffel 5,821 b.

Like her mother and full brothers & sisters, ‘Jet’ turned out to be an exceptional hen!! Her direct children and grandchildren are super pigeons; they are winners of

‘CLAIRE’; A RACING & BREEDING STAR

‘Crack 19’ is a direct son of ‘Golden Dream’ and therefore close family to ‘Jet’ … in fact; ‘Crack 19’ and ‘Jet’ have been paired up in their top racing year and bred at least 3 super breeders, including the mother of NL19-1248793 ‘Claire’, Gebr. Leideman miracle hen & winner of
1. s-prov. acebird allround 2021

1. Chalons En Champagne 5,887 b.
1. Sens 1,629 b.

– ‘Sister Claire’ Comb. Heeren; Breeder of 1. Nat. GP Melun 4,963 b.

But probably the best direct child of ‘Crack 19’ is NL16-1076052 ‘Arturo’, who developed as the new breeding sensation at Leideman brothers when paired to NL15-1234049 ‘Tila’.

The wonder couple Arturo x Tila

Sometimes as a fancier you realize it when you are handling gold with a certain couple. This realization came to Leideman on the 7th of July 2019 at the race of Lorris, 597 km. A challenging NPO race where the fastest pigeons had to hit 1150 mpm; it meant hard work, but it really was an honest battle. Leideman managed to achieve a strong result with 7 pigeons among the first 14 of the National sector 4 of 6,086 pigeons. The first two pigeons (‘Aura’ and ‘Nancy’) as well as the winners of the 13. and 14. National (‘Haley’ and ‘Fabio’) all came from ‘Arturo’ x ‘Tila’ … and every single one of those pigeons turned out to be more than a one-day wonder, they all would continue to win 1st prizes multiple times! The confirmation that this couple is worth gold.

In the years after also 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation offspring of ‘Arturo’ x ‘Tila’ showed to win; always and anywhere! Direct children are for Leideman brothers winners of
1. Nat. S4 Issoudun 709 km – 3,746 b.

5. prov. Rethel – 8,181 b.

In 2020 the brothers were forced to move and sold the total racing team, with amongst them several children of ‘Arturo’ x ‘Tila’ … fanciers that manages to purchase these diamonds never regretted it … they bred winners of a/o
